Case Study: Application of IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile in High-End Corporate Office Buildings
I. Project Background

With the accelerated pace of urbanization, high-end corporate office buildings have an increasing demand for security, convenience, and intelligence in access management. A well-known financial enterprise, which owns a new office building located in the city’s core business district, covers a total construction area of approximately 35,000 square meters, has 28 floors, accommodates over 1,200 employees, and receives 200-300 daily visitors.

Previously, the enterprise relied on a traditional access card management system, which was plagued by issues such as lost or counterfeited cards and cumbersome visitor registration processes. To address these pain points, the enterprise urgently needed an efficient and intelligent pedestrian access management solution. After multiple rounds of inspection and comparison, it ultimately chose to cooperate with our company, introducing the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile integrated with embedded facial recognition technology and an intelligent visitor management system to build a comprehensive pedestrian access management system for the office building.

II. Core Customer Requirements
  1. Enhanced Security: Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the office area and eliminate security risks caused by random access of external personnel. Meanwhile, accurately record personnel entry and exit information for easy traceability.
  2. Improved Traffic Efficiency: Resolve long queues during morning and evening rush hours when employees swipe cards, reduce passage time to enhance the commute experience. Simplify the visitor registration process to minimize visitor waiting time.
  3. System Compatibility: Ensure the pedestrian barrier system can integrate with the enterprise’s existing OA (Office Automation) system and attendance system to achieve data sharing, eliminate information silos, and improve overall management efficiency.
  4. Aesthetic and Environmental Adaptability: High-end office buildings feature a minimalist, sophisticated, and modern decor style. The turnstiles must match the overall environment in terms of design, while maintaining durability to withstand high-traffic usage scenarios.
III. Customized Solution for IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile

To meet the customer’s needs, our company tailored a pedestrian access management solution centered on the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile, covering product design, technology integration, and system docking to fully address the customer’s requirements.

(I) Customized Product Appearance

Considering the office building’s overall decor, we customized the appearance of the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile. The turnstile body is made of 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish, ensuring a smooth and delicate surface, excellent corrosion resistance, and wear resistance—maintaining an attractive appearance over long-term use. Additionally, we adjusted the body color to a light gray (matching the office building’s wall color) and incorporated simple linear design elements, allowing the turnstiles to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment and elevate the building’s overall elegance.

(II) Integration of Embedded Facial Recognition Technology

To achieve fast and accurate identity verification, we integrated embedded facial recognition technology into the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile. The system uses an industrial-grade high-definition camera with functions such as strong backlight resistance, low-light adaptation, and night infrared fill light—enabling it to quickly capture facial information in complex lighting conditions. With a recognition accuracy of over 99.8% and a response time of less than 0.3 seconds, employees only need to stand in front of the turnstile for the system to automatically complete facial recognition; once verified, the turnstile opens automatically. This eliminates the need for card swiping or password entry, significantly improving traffic efficiency.

Furthermore, the facial recognition system includes liveness detection to prevent the use of fake identities (e.g., photos, videos), ensuring the security of personnel access. The system also supports batch import, deletion, and modification of facial data, allowing administrators to easily manage employee facial information via the backend management system—ensuring convenient and efficient operation.

(III) Matching Intelligent Visitor Management System

To solve the problems of cumbersome visitor registration and difficult management, we paired the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile with an intelligent visitor management system. This system consists of three components: a visitor registration terminal, a backend management system, and a mobile app—enabling end-to-end intelligent management of visitors from reservation and registration to access and departure.

  • Visitor Reservation: Visitors can use the mobile app to pre-fill personal information (name, ID number, contact details, host, and visit time), upload ID photos and facial images, and submit a reservation request. The host receives a notification and can approve the request via the app; once approved, the system automatically generates a reservation QR code.
  • Visitor Registration: Upon arrival, visitors can scan the reservation QR code at the registration terminal or use the ID card reader to input their ID information. The system automatically verifies the visitor’s identity and matches it with the reservation data. After successful verification, the system captures the visitor’s facial information and generates temporary access permissions—allowing the visitor to enter designated floors or areas via facial recognition.
  • Visitor Access Management: The intelligent visitor management system seamlessly integrates with the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile. When a visitor performs facial recognition at the turnstile, the system verifies their identity and opens the turnstile if approved. Meanwhile, the system records the visitor’s entry/exit time and location in real time, enabling administrators to monitor visitor activity via the backend system for easy management and traceability.
  • Visitor Departure Check-Out: Visitors can complete a departure check-out at the registration terminal, after which the system automatically revokes their temporary access permissions to prevent overstaying.
(IV) System Docking and Data Sharing

To ensure seamless integration with the enterprise’s existing systems, our technical team customized the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstile’s management system to enable data sharing with the enterprise’s OA system and attendance system. Employee facial data is synchronized to the attendance system, and their entry/exit records (via facial recognition) are automatically saved as attendance data—eliminating the need for additional clock-in procedures and simplifying the attendance process. Additionally, real-time entry/exit data from the access management system is synced to the OA system, allowing administrators to view access reports directly in the OA system for easier personnel management and data analysis.

IV. Project Implementation and Results
(I) Project Implementation Process
  1. On-Site Survey and Solution Confirmation: After receiving the order, our project team immediately conducted an on-site survey of the office building to assess the access layout, decor style, and traffic volume. We also held in-depth discussions with the customer to refine requirements, optimize the solution, and finalize the official project implementation plan.
  2. Product Production and Testing: In accordance with the implementation plan, we began manufacturing and customizing the IM.B203 Swing Barrier Turnstiles, and conducted integration testing of the embedded facial recognition technology and intelligent visitor management system. Strict quality control measures (aligned with our quality management system) were implemented throughout production and testing to ensure product quality and system stability.
  3. On-Site Installation and Commissioning: After production and testing were completed, we dispatched a professional installation team to the site. The team followed construction standards to ensure the turnstiles were securely installed in the correct positions, and commissioned the facial recognition system and visitor management system to ensure all components worked together stably.
  4. Personnel Training and Project Acceptance: After installation and commissioning, we provided training to the customer’s administrators and relevant staff on system operation—including using the backend management system, managing facial data, and handling visitor registration. Once training was completed, the customer conducted a project acceptance review; all indicators met the expected requirements, and the project was successfully delivered.
(II) Project Results
  1. Significantly Enhanced Security: The embedded facial recognition technology effectively prevented the use of fake identities and blocked unauthorized access to the office area, safeguarding the safety of personnel and property. Additionally, the intelligent visitor management system enabled end-to-end intelligent visitor oversight, allowing administrators to monitor visitor activity in real time and improving the security and effectiveness of visitor management.
  2. Greatly Improved Traffic Efficiency: Employees now access the building via facial recognition (no card swiping or password entry required), with passage time reduced to less than 0.3 seconds. This resolved long queues during rush hours and enhanced the employee commute experience.
